Planning a Scandinavian getaway? This 5-Day Stockholm Solo Travel Itinerary is perfect for solo travelers who want a stylish, cultural, and safe European city break. Stockholm is clean, easy to navigate, very safe for solo female travel, and filled with luxury experiences. From waterfront dining to elegant hotels, world-class museums, and scenic boat rides.
Whether you’re visiting Stockholm for the first time ( like I did) or you’re planning a return trip, this itinerary blends culture, relaxation, and luxury into an unforgettable solo adventure.
Getting to Stockholm
I flew from Milan to Stockholm with SAS, a quick 2 hour 40 minute flight. Upon landing at Arlanda Airport, I hopped on the Flygbussarna Airport Coach, which takes 45–50 minutes to reach the city center and costs around €13.50. It’s budget-friendly, comfortable, and incredibly convenient. They also have free wifi onboard.
Alternative:
The Arlanda Express gets you into Stockholm Central Station in only 18 minutes, though it’s more expensive. If you want speed and comfort, this is the best option. Unfortunately I found out about the Arlanda Express after I had booked my bus tickets.

Where I Stayed, Foremon Apartments (Norrmalm)
During my trip, I stayed at Foremon Apartments, which I booked via Booking.com.

The apartment was:
Small but modern
Spotlessly clean
Very quiet
Perfectly comfortable for a solo traveler
- Fully equipped, pots, iron, ironing board, big fridge, pots, blow dryer and fresh towels.
Its location in Norrmalm was ideal. It’s central, walkable, safe, and close to Östermalm, Stockholm’s upscale luxury district with designer shops, elegant cafés, and beautiful architecture. This area made it easy to explore all parts of the city.

Day 4: Luxury Day Afternoon Tea, Dinner, & Rooftop Drinks
Make your fourth day a luxury experience.
✔ Afternoon Tea at the Grand Hôtel
This hotel is iconic, and their afternoon tea is one of Europe’s best. Elegant, calm, and perfect for a solo treat. Highly recommend it.
✔ Dinner at Hotel Diplomat
I had dinner at the bar here, which has warm lighting, cozy seating, and delicious food. Had my second best meal here.
NB: When traveling solo I always try eating at the bar, it makes it easier to meet and communicate with new people rather than sitting on my own table.
✔ Drinks at Camper Hotel Rooftop
End the night with cocktails and views at a rooftop bar with an infinity pool yes, Stockholm really does luxury like this. The rooftop was cozy, however I started seeing people walking through the bar outside in robes and I completely got shocked, however I later found out that the hotel has a big heated infinity pool.
A perfect solo evening: safe, stylish, and easygoing.
Day 5: Shopping + Slow Morning + Departure
Spend your final morning exploring Östermalm’s elegant boutiques.
✔ Where to shop:
NK Department Store
Biblioteksgatan (luxury shopping street)
Humlegården Park for a peaceful walk
Then head back to Arlanda Airport using either the Flygbussarna bus or the Arlanda Express.
Things to Know Before Visiting Stockholm
1. Currency
Sweden uses the Swedish Krona (SEK), not the Euro.
Card payments are accepted everywhere, even small cafés.
2. Weather
If visiting in November, pack very warm layers. It’s chilly, windy, and can be rainy. Very important to note that the sun literally gets down at 3pm, so make sure you do everything if not most of your activities before then.
3. Safety
Stockholm is incredibly safe for solo female travelers. I walked around at night and felt totally comfortable.
4. English
Almost everyone speaks excellent English, communication is extremely easy. This makes your trip incredibly easier.
5. Public Transport
Efficient, clean, safe, and reliable, however I either walked or took Uber or Bolt, I found out that Bolt was cheaper, so make sure you download both so you can compare prices.
6. Connectivity
My Saily eSIM was a lifesaver, fast and easy to install, not forgetting that it was affordable.
