Sardinia is one of those places that feels like it was made for summer. Crystal-clear waters, golden sunsets, and an effortless food and aperitivo culture that makes every evening feel special. I just spent 5 days in Sardinia with a friend. The trip was a perfect mix of beach days, sailing adventures, rooftop cocktails, and even a concert under the stars.
Packing for this trip was all about versatility. I kept things light, chic, and practical, with swimsuits that doubled as tops, linen dresses, and a flowing kimono that worked both at the beach and for exploring. Accessories made all the difference: a straw basket bag, a wide-brim hat, and a pair of heels that instantly elevated a simple look.
Here’s my diary of 5 days in Sardinia, with what we did, what I wore, and the food and moments that made it unforgettable. ToggleDay 1 – Rooftop Aperitivo & Dinner in the City
We arrived in Sardinia in the late afternoon and immediately settled into the rhythm of island life, with aperitivo on a rooftop at golden hour. Aperol spritz, sunset views over the city, and a few small bites set the perfect tone for the trip.
Dinner that evening was fresh seafood, beautifully presented, paired with crisp local wine. Sardinia’s food culture is all about simplicity and quality, and it was the ideal first taste of the island.

The next morning we headed straight to the beach. Sardinia’s beaches are famous for their white sand and turquoise water, and they didn’t disappoint. I spent most of the day in my bikini, alternating between swimming and lounging with my straw hat and woven tote.
Style Note: My beach uniform was simple yet chic, a classic black bikini, a wide-brim straw hat, and a straw tote. These three pieces carried me through the day, from lounging by the ocean to grabbing a casual seaside lunch. What I love most about packing like this is how easily the same outfit transitions from the sand to something polished enough for a restaurant setting. A true example of versatile summer styling.
By late afternoon we made our way to Phi Beach, where we caught the most incredible sunset before a live concert. There’s something unforgettable about watching the sun drop into the sea while music fills the air. For the concert, I swapped my beach look for something chic but comfortable, a sleek white dress paired with comfortable sandals. It felt like the perfect combination of laid-back island style with a touch of evening glamour.
Day 3 – Sailing the Coast
This was my favorite day of the trip: a full day out on the water. Sailing along Sardinia’s coast gives you an entirely new perspective on the island. The rugged cliffs, hidden coves, and endless shades of blue are breathtaking.
For sailing, I kept it simple with light layers, my black kimono, and a swimsuit underneath. The look was breezy, practical, and perfect for jumping in and out of the water. It was one of those outfits that wasn’t fussy but still felt elegant in its own way. Exactly what you want for a day on a boat.
Lunch was casual but delicious onboard, and by evening we returned to shore just in time for another sunset aperitivo. Sardinia has a way of slowing down time, every golden hour feels like a celebration.
Day 4 – Beach Club Vibes
On our last full day, we woke up early to make the most of it. We spent the day at a chic beach club, while lounging by the water, sipping cocktails, and enjoying the relaxed island vibe. Aperol Spritzes became the drink of choice, paired with light bites and plenty of laughter.
I wore a flowy kimono cover-up layered over my swimsuit, paired with my straw hat. A kimono is one of my favorite pieces to travel with, because it works as a beach cover-up, and adds movement and elegance to photos. It also doubles up as an easy layer for casual dinners. It instantly elevates even the simplest swim look without taking up much space in your suitcase.
Day 5 – Farewell Sardinia
Our final day came too quickly. With an early morning flight, we didn’t have time for much more than a quick breakfast before heading to the airport. Still, I left with the feeling that these 5 days in Sardinia gave me a taste of everything I wanted. Sailing, beaches, great food, live music, and plenty of time to soak up the sun.
Packing Essentials for 5 Days in Sardinia
If you’re planning your own stylish Sardinian escape, here are the pieces that proved most useful and versatile:
Wide-brim hat – practical sun protection and instantly stylish.
Straw basket bag – doubles as a beach tote and a casual day bag.
Bikinis in neutral tones – easy to mix and match, and double as bodysuits.
Kimono or light cover-up – versatile for beach clubs and relaxed evenings.
Chic sandals – comfortable enough for exploring but still polished.
Packing Tips for 5 Days in Sardinia
Keep it versatile: Choose pieces you can wear multiple ways (a swimsuit as a bodysuit, a kimono as a cover-up or dinner layer).
Accessorize smartly: A straw hat, woven tote, and chic sandals instantly elevate even the simplest outfit.
Plan for day-to-night: Have one polished outfit ready for concerts, dinners, or nights out.
Embrace light fabrics: Linens, cottons, and airy dresses are perfect for Sardinia’s summer heat.
Don’t overpack: Between swimming, sailing, and beach clubs, you’ll repeat pieces more than you think.
